Marradi, A. (1988). [Review of Le vie della sociologia. Problemi, teorie, metodi, by F. Crespi]. European Sociological Review, 4(2), 173–175.
One feels the full burden of responsibility in presenting a book one considers among the best pieces of scholarship ever produced by an Italian social scientist. It is on purpose that I say ‘social scientist’ rather than ‘sociologist’: while the author tackles the core problems of sociology (How is society possible? How does society reproduce itself?), he does so by using the full array of intellectual tools produced by the human sciences, and by existential philosophy as well.
